Why God; What Went Wrong?

Jack M. Skinner

If you have been a genuine Christian for very long, you have in some way asked this question to yourself and possibly to others: “Why God; What Went Wrong?”

After the wonderful experience of being born again and having been forgiven of all your sins and that beautiful feeling of peace and cleanliness which far surpasses any earthly happening a human can ever experience visits you, then you realize you have become a new creature in Christ. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” (2

Corinthians 5:17) No other act can bring such peace and contentment as being saved from all ones past sins and damning guilt. Once you have met God on His terms of repentance and bowed before His Grace, you are truly a new creature in Christ. It is not an empty grave that proves Jesus’ resurrection is true but an occupied heart. This is the proof one can carry with them all through life, no matter the road ahead they may have to tread.

“Old things are passed away; behold all things are become new.” This is an indi- vidual experience and not some church ritual. This is a personal encounter with the Creator and Saviour of your soul. Once you have this experience you will never be able to forget it. It does not come from repeating some words or performing some man made acts but occurs upon conviction by the Holy Spirit and yielding to that conviction through (all the way through) to true repentance! Salvation is the begin- ning of a walk with God! Now a soul is Justified before God and their life is hid in Christ. “For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.” (Colossians 3:3) Hid from all of ones past sins which are forgiven and forgotten by the Judge of all the earth, never to be remembered anymore! “Who is a God like unto thee, that par- doneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy. He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.” (Micah 7:18-19) Sins cast into a sea, posted and guarded by “No Fishing” signs. Justified by God! Justified, only upon the merits of the sacrificial blood atonement of Jesus Christ at Calvary and not by anything of ones self or by any of man’s efforts to appease an angry God. Justified!!!! Hid in Christ!

An example of Justification concerning Peter’s life was when he was in the pres- ence of Jesus in Gethsemane with an angel attending. (Luke 22) He was contributing nothing to his surroundings except obeying the call to follow Jesus. In fact, Peter was sleeping while God was preparing the Sacrifice for his sins. Jesus was doing all the intercessory work to provide true forgiveness and peace for those who would repent and follow Him. Peter was being Justified through Christ. “Much more then, being now

justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.(Romans 5:9)

After Justification there exists a walk with God called Sanctification. God left Adam and Eve alone in the Garden with the tree. He commanded them not to par- take of its fruit and then left them to obey His Word. They processed the will to choose and of course we know that they failed to obey His command not to partake of the fruit. Sanctification is a continual process of man living apart from their Adamic  nature  and  living  in  obedience to the command’s of God, even in His absence. Living in accordance to His Word while surrounded by sin and temptation; crucifying the flesh in order to please God and doing God’s will instead of following fleshly desires. “Sanctify yourselves there- fore, and be ye holy: for I am the LORD your God. And ye shall keep my statutes, and do them: I am the LORD which sanc- tify you.”  (Leviticus 20:7-8)

An example of failure of this struggle called Sanctification in Peter’s life was when he was warming himself by the enemies’ fire and denying any association with Jesus. He then, realizing his carnal failure as a follower of God and as Jesus looked at him and the cock crew, went out and wept and repented! In the Garden Peter was dependent on the presence of Jesus praying to sustain him but at the enemies’ camp Peter had to deal with his own flesh and deal with his own failures to grow in Grace! What Went Wrong between the Garden and the enemies’ camp? What Went Wrong, things were going so well following Jesus as He provided and pro- tected? Jesus was still in view of Peter but now Jesus was focusing upon Peter him- self to deal with the wicked ungodly world around himself and his association with it. Now, Peter was separated from the Christ whom he was always closely following. Now, Peter had to learn to pray himself. Now, Peter was experiencing and ques- tioning; What Went Wrong! Peter was fac- ing what all true born again believers face after salvation; reality of living a godly life in this sinful world! Facing the chal- lenges of making decisions based on fol- lowing the Grace of God that saved them; sanctifying themselves. “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared

to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto  himself  a  peculiar  people,  zealous of good works. These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.” (Titus 2:11-15) What Went Wrong? We are awakened to the reality that we are still present in this world that lieth in wickedness. We realize that we are not in Heaven with Jesus but still walk this trail of tears and face daily the adversary who seeks to destroy our faith in God. “We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not. And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.” (1 John 5:18-

19) My pastor used to say: “Everybody wants to sing about the sweet by and by but nobody wants to deal with the nasty now and now!” We are not translated out of this sinful world when we are born again; we receive the armor (Ephesians 6) to live for God through a separated life in it. Sanctified! Saying “no” to sin and say- ing “yes” to God.

What Went Wrong? The sin nature is now at enmity with the new born again nature! The struggle now begins and that which wins depends on which is fed. The one fed becomes the stronger and con- quers the other. “Likewise reckon ye also yourselves  to  be  dead  indeed  unto  sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteous- ness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righ- teousness unto God. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.” (Romans 6:11-

14) A living true Christian is saved but is not glorified yet and has to deal with the

old man and maintain a walk with God which is pleasing to Him. Yield ye your members unto God!!! “Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedi- ence unto righteousness?” (Romans 6:16)

A certain Samaritan (Luke 10) was on a journey while a Priest and Levite were just traveling. There is a big difference between being on a journey and just walk- ing through life! A man on a journey has a destination in sight and a Christian has heaven in sight. Most professing believ- ers today are just traveling along with the crowd and let circumstances lead them. Those on the narrow road have a different view and stop to help those in need. The destination of this Samaritan was delayed or may have even been canceled. Taking the time to help the stranger in the ditch cost him money, cost him time, cost him delay and probably cost him criticism from others who were standing idly by. What Went Wrong?  His  journey  got  detoured and plans had to be changed. Those in life’s ditches had to be ministered to while the ninety and nine who were safe in the fold were left alone! What Went Wrong?

Daddy doesn’t take us to the fun places on weekends any more but instead makes us take a bath and go to church where we have to sit and listen to God’s Word. He got rid of those things which we all used to involve ourselves around all the time. What Went Wrong? Mommy dresses us differently than we used to dress and now the other children look at us strange and we have lost some of our best friends. What Went Wrong? Grandpa says we have to pray and thank God  and that we should save some of our money to give in the offer- ing at church instead of spending it all on ourselves. What Went Wrong?  On and on the contrast could go as the old man chang- es into the new creature God intended His creation to be like. The new walk, the new talk, the new life “in” Christ? What Went Wrong?  Ephesians  4:22  &  Romans  6:6

The world hated Jesus and hates every true Christian that is born again. The war- fare begins when a child of God starts to walk with Jesus in newness of life. It is

not that things are going wrong spiritually but as one becomes more like the Saviour, the more they are hated by this world. “If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.” (John 15:18-19) It was Cain who was of that wicked one and slew his brother Abel just outside the Garden of Eden. Cain hated his brother solely because Abel’s deeds were righteous and accepted before God. As a Christian walks and grows in God they can expect to become the object of God haters who have known God and talked with God as Cain did but who have forsaken the narrow way for their own fleshly satisfaction and hate all righteous acts of God.

“And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.  And  he  kneeled  down,  and  cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.” (Acts 7:59-60) Stephen was killed (martyred) because he lived and preached truth. He was hated by his own countrymen and religious sect. There was one individual other than Saul (Paul) who was standing and watching the stoning of Stephen and that was Jesus. “And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.” (Acts 7:56) Why did not Jesus send angels to save Stephen? What Went Wrong? Why did not Jesus call the host of heaven to deliver himself from the cross? “Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword. Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my  Father,  and  he  shall  presently  give me more than twelve legions of angels?” (Matthew 26:52-53) What Went Wrong? “Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests have deliv- ered thee unto me: what hast thou done? Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.” (John 18:35-36)

There are many examples of this hatred for those who stand for God by both the worldly crowd and also those professing to be followers of God but walk in the ways of flesh. Church attendees who are just outside Eden but possess only the fruits of unrighteousness as Cain did. They offer to God a life full of sin and refuse to kneel in repentance and refuse to offer to Him a blood sacrifice.

There are listed in God’s Word many men and women of God who suffered because they stood by truth and lived a life “in” Christ. Hebrews lists not only those who were delivered by their faith but also those who suffered because of their faith. “By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king’s com- mandment. By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward. By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible. Through faith he kept the passover, and the sprinkling of blood, lest he that destroyed the firstborn should touch them. By faith they passed through the Red sea as by dry land: which the Egyptians assaying to do were drowned. By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days. By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace. And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. Women received their

dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection: And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being desti- tute, afflicted, tormented; (Of whom the world  was  not  worthy:)  they  wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. And these all, hav- ing obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise: God having pro- vided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.” (Hebrews 11:23-40) What Went Wrong?

Many in our day succumb to the weak and beggarly elements because of the rampant sins that have crawled out of the darkness and manifested themselves as equal rights. The only legal rights a man has on this earth are those granted him by his Creator and are found plainly inscribed in the King James Bible! These converts of satan will turn on the anointed of God, deny wrong doing, claiming equality while persecut- ing the righteous. The common believer who has never made the true commitment to sacrifice God’s way will follow these filthy dreamers and be led astray into per- dition. Then will they cry at the Judgment, What Went Wrong?, as Jesus answers them: “I never knew you!” Matthew 7:23

Jesus warned of the apostasy of the last days and how normality of families will disappear and haters of God will become persecutors of the godly. “And Jesus answering them began to say, Take heed lest any man deceive you: For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earth- quakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows. But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall

be beaten: and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testi- mony against them. And the gospel must first be published among all nations. But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost. Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents, and shall cause them to be put to death. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” (Mark 13:5-13) What Went Wrong?

From the Garden of Eden all the way through to the Great Tribulation we can read about how the righteous suffer. The blood of Abel cried from the ground: “What Went Wrong; the righteous suffer!” Jesus said His followers are not of this world and would not fight for this earthly system.  He was talking about those who have  their  name  recorded  in  the  Book of Life. Those who at all cost stay true to  the  Love  of  God!  “Jesus  answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.” (John 18:36)

Elijah,  that  great  man  of  God,  faced not only the wickedness of Ahab and Jezebel, the rulers of his day, but also the complacency of the children of Israel (the church). The people, were who discour- aged Elijah, not just the wicked couple who led them all into idolatry. After God revealed Himself on Mount Carmel and put His approval upon this man of God, the people kept silent and Elijah fled! What Went Wrong? “And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and withal how he had slain all the prophets with the sword. Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to morrow about this time. And when he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beersheba, which belongeth to Judah, and left his servant

there. But he himself went a day’s jour- ney  into  the  wilderness,  and  came  and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.” (1 Kings 19:1-4) This man of God, after such a victory, was flee- ing discouraged. What Went Wrong? In Romans the writer reveals Elias’ (Elijah’s) observation of the condition of the church in his day. “Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and  I  am  left  alone,  and  they  seek  my life.” (Romans 11:3) What Went Wrong?

Job was a man God bragged about and his character was above all of his day. “There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.” (Job 1:1) “And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? (Job 1:8) If Job was so highly regarded by the Creator, why did he suffer as he did?  What Went Wrong? “Cursed be the day wherein I was born: let not the day wherein my mother bare me be blessed. Cursed be the man who brought tidings to my father, saying, A man child is born unto  thee;  making  him  very  glad.  And let that man be as the cities which the LORD overthrew, and repented not: and let him hear the cry in the morning, and the shouting at noontide; Because he slew me not from the womb; or that my mother

might have been my grave, and her womb to be always great with me. Wherefore came I forth out of the womb to see labour and sorrow, that my days should be  consumed  with  shame?”    (Jeremiah

20:14-18) What Went Wrong? “Why is light given to a man whose way is hid, and whom God hath hedged in? For my sighing cometh before I eat, and my roar- ings are poured out like the waters. For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me. I was not in safety, neither had I rest, neither was I quiet; yet trouble came.” (Job 3:23-26) What Went Wrong?

Habakkuk  was  a  prophet  chosen  and sent of God but mourned because of the great burden he bore and the sin of God’s people. “O LORD, how long shall I cry, and thou wilt not hear! even cry out unto thee of violence, and thou wilt not save! Why dost thou shew me iniquity, and cause me to behold grievance? for spoil- ing and violence are before me: and there are that raise up strife and contention. Therefore the law is slacked, and judgment doth never go forth: for the wicked doth compass about the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceedeth.” (Habakkuk

1:2-4) What Went Wrong? God has chosen man to convey His message to humanity and that puts much stress upon the obedi- ent preacher who is faithful to proclaim truth to the lost and disobedient! “I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.(Habakkuk 2:1-2)   “A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet upon Shigionoth. O LORD, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O LORD, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy.” (Habakkuk  3:1-2)  What  Went  Wrong?

Paul, that great evangelist and writer of most of the New Testament Epistles, after his  conversion  could  have  asked  more than any other human; What Went Wrong? His life as a noted Jew went to be a hated Christian and fellow sufferer for Christ.

“Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more: Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righ- teousness which is in the law, blameless. (Philippians 3:4-6) What Went Wrong? Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one. Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep; In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by  mine  own  countrymen,  in  perils  by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.” (2 Corinthians 11:24-27) What Went Wrong? “But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of  Christ  Jesus  my  Lord:  for  whom  I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,(Philippians 3:7-8) “And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved.(2 Corinthians 12:15)

The Psalmist stated concerning the suf- ferings of Jesus: “For my love they are my adversaries:” What Went Wrong? “Hold not thy peace, O God of my praise; For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful are opened against me: they have spoken against me with a lying tongue. They compassed me about also with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause. For my love they are my adver- saries: but I give myself unto prayer. And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love.(Psalms 109:1-5)

“My God, my God, why hast thou for- saken me? why art thou so far from help- ing me, and from the words of my roaring? What Went Wrong? O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent. But thou

art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel. Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them. They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded. But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people. All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, say- ing, He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him. But thou art he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother’s breasts. I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother’s belly. Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help. Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round. They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion. I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels. My strength is dried up like a pot- sherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death. For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet. I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me. They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.” (Psalms  22:1-18)  What  Went  Wrong?

“And the devil, taking him (Jesus) up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whom- soever I will I give it. If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.” (Luke

4:5-7) God was the Creator and man was His creation who was given title to all things. What Went Wrong? How did the devil get possession of all the kingdoms? How did this happen? What Went Wrong?

Adam sold all the possessions in the Garden to the serpent (devil) for one bite of the forbidden fruit. That is What Went Wrong!!!! Now satan owns all the king- doms of this world and offers to  purchase at any price the souls of men and women,

boys and girls. Name your price and the enemy of God and enemy of your soul will gladly pay to send you to hell!

But What Went Wrong  in  the  Garden was paid for at Calvary as Jesus uttered those words: “Father forgive them; for they know not what they do.” as He gave His  life  to  REDEEM  all  that  the  first Adam sold. I am so thankful that Jesus did not come down from the cross nor call to the Father to send the host of Heaven to deliver Him because what looked to man was going wrong at the cross was the only payment that could redeem what was sold by the first Adam. What Went Wrong at the cross was in the plan of God who loved the world enough to offer the true Lamb of God for the sin of the whole world which lieth in wickedness! “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That who- soever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” (John 3:14-18)

God placed the burden upon humans to carry the message of judgement and hope (the Gospel) extended to fallen man. God has invested in man to be the link between His Grace and man’s sinful estate because of What Went Wrong in the Garden of Eden. Souls’ destinies lay in human hands and it is too serious for we Christians to play  church  as  souls  plunge  into  hell! God has a plan to fix What Went Wrong because of man’s failure and He has cho- sen man to be about the Father’s business!

The same Peter who denied Jesus at the enemies’ fire and later forsook the minis- try, going back to his old carnal lifestyle of fishing (John 21:3), finally saw the true plan of God for a heavenly kingdom and yielded  himself  as  a  vessel  unto  honor and an apostle to those scattered believ- ers  who  were  faced  with  the  question:

What Went Wrong?! Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied. Blessed  be  the  God  and  Father  of  our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheri- tance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. Wherein ye great- ly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. ……. Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revela- tion of Jesus Christ; As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in  all  manner  of  conversation;  Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning  here  in  fear:  Forasmuch  as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foun- dation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from

the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God. Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth  through  the  Spirit  unto  unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.(1 Peter 1:1-25)

One day, we shall stand before God and give an account for the talents placed in our  hands.  Those  who  have  neglected their calling will be asked that question: What Went Wrong? What did you do with the grace offered freely to you? How did you use your talents; on self or for others? Let me look in the books and see! “And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, accord- ing to their works.” (Revelation 20:11-12)

Brother and Sister, if you can relate to Peter’s failures in your life as a child of God because the questions of life have blinded you to the hope that lies in eternal life after death, let me assure you that if you go to Jesus in true repentance, you will become a vessel unto honor no matter how many times you have failed (sinned) in the past! No matter what your life is right now! The blood of Jesus cleanseth from “all” sin; past, present and future; “if” you will REPENT and follow His Word which is still available today for the seeking soul.

“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” (1 John 1:7)

Former Days!          Latter Days!

“for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.” (Luke 12:15b)             Jack M. Skinner

“Say not thou, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not enquire wisely concerning this.” (Ecclesiastes 7:10)

Many who read Miracles & Missions Digest may question why Brother Skinner takes up space printing Scriptures rather than  just  using  the  Scripture  reference and using the space for his comments. We send free Bibles into prisons all across the USA and there are currently 6,149 prison- ers still in prison as of this writing who have received a free Bible and receive Miracles & Missions Digest. There were approximately 2,000,000 prisoners as of December 31, 2015 in our prison system. When I was married in 1966 (former days) there were approximately 200,000 prison- ers  in  State  and  Federal  prisons.  There are a majority of prisoners today who do not have a Bible and many have testified that when they found a copy of Miracles

& Missions Digest they wrote in for their free Bible. It is the Word of God which is sharper than a twoedged sword, not man’s (my) dialog!  “For the word of God is quick,  and  powerful,  and  sharper  than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

(Hebrews 4:12) True anointing of God comes from using His Word and not by using man’s intelligence or talent! Times have changed haven’t they Brother and Sister? When was the last time you were cut to the heart by experiencing the Sword of the Spirit?

If your Christianity has become popular with society then I am afraid you are liv- ing a lie! Former days and latter days have always rejected God’s walk for man. Read your Bible! Man has and always will by human reasoning make to themselves a religion without law: without God’s law (the Holy Bible)! By becoming a child of God (being saved) a human will not only

experience the blessing of the Creator but will face and feel the hatred of the worldly system  especially  amongst  those  claim- ing to be Christians. It was the religious leaders of Jesus’ day who stirred up their followers and cried “crucify him” while Pilate declared: “I find not fault in Him!” “But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions; Partly, whilst ye were made a gazingstock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, whilst  ye  became  companions  of  them that  were  so  used.”  (Hebrews  10:32-33) The former days and the latter days in the life of a true child of God will be suffer- ing for His name sake while awaiting that blessed hope only attained in eternity after our departure from this trail of tears called life. Do not get comfortable in this world’s system which one day will burn. Set your eyes (affection) upon the kingdom above and not on this sin cursed world. Looking for fellowship with mankind rather than fellowship with God will always lead a human to a carnal surrounding without God’s law. Following Jesus will always lead a hungry soul down a path of cruci- fixion of the flesh daily! Today is the day of salvation no matter what the former or latter days encompass you. You prisoners who were caught in your sin and have a past (former days) of crime can have those sins cast into the sea of forgetfulness by God never to remember again in the true former days (Heaven) if you today will repent and accept a life in Christ. No mat- ter what the former days were. “He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.” (Micah 7:19) Thank God, what a blessed hope we all have in Him (Jesus); TODAY, no matter what the former days were! Today is the day of salvation! Your day of salvation!

Latter Days! “This know also, that in the

last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despis- ers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away  with  divers  lusts,  Ever  learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, repro- bate concerning the faith. But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was. But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffer- ing, charity, patience, Persecutions, afflic- tions,  which  came  unto  me  at  Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me. Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecu- tion. But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; And that from a child thou hast  known  the  holy  scriptures,  which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteous- ness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.” (2 Timothy 3:1-17) This is why this ministry sends free Bibles to those who are incar- cerated no matter their crime, gender, race or age. All are candidates for the Grace of our God! “For God so loved the WORLD, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish,  but  have  everlasting  life.”  (John

3:16) There is no prisoner who can say: “Nobody loves me and nobody cares for me.” God loves and cares for you and your

future and so does this ministry who offers each one who writes a free Bible and godly messages on preparing for the Latter Days (eternity) through Miracles and Missions Digest. The choice is yours and the oppor- tunity  is  awaiting  your  response.  Those of you who are not incarcerated behind bars but are captive of false teaching or worldly lust can obtain the Word of God and be set free by obeying the warnings of the Former Days and the hope of salvation though the Latter Days. Take a visit to the cemetery and tell me you are not going to face death. Look at the ages of those of the Former Days and consider your time com- ing! Think about it my friend and prepare for the Latter Days in your life while there is time and hope.

Latter Days! “Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you. Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten. Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days. Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth. Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter. Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you. Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the hus- bandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.” (James 5:1-8)

Former Days and Latter Days! “This sec- ond epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:(Former Days) That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days (Latter Days)  scoffers,  walking  after  their  own

lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slack- ness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?” (2 Peter 3:1-12)

TODAY! “Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them; While the sun, or the light, or the moon, or the stars, be not darkened, nor the clouds return after the rain: In the day when the keepers of the house shall tremble, and the strong men shall bow themselves, and the grinders cease because they are few, and those that look out of the windows be darkened, And the doors shall be shut in the streets, when the sound of the grinding is low, and he shall rise up at the voice of the bird, and all the daughters of musick shall  be  brought  low;  Also  when  they shall be afraid of that which is high, and fears shall be in the way, and the almond tree shall flourish, and the grasshopper

shall be a burden, and desire shall fail: because man goeth to his long home, and the mourners go about the streets: Or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern. Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto  God  who  gave  it.  Vanity  of  vani- ties, saith the preacher; all is vanity. And moreover, because the preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yea, he gave good heed, and sought out, and set in order many proverbs. The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and that which was written was upright, even words of truth. The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd. And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh. Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God,  and  keep  his  commandments:  for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.” (Ecclesiastes 12:1-14)

Friend, this is your day and the choices which have been made in former days has put you where you are today either by your own decisions or by another. Now, seek the best opportunity that is before you no matter what it cost to find and fulfill the will of God for your life and those who follow you. God desires you to be free from sin and for you to enjoy true happiness. Start that walk today and I assure you that our Heavenly Father will be beside you to guide and help you with your walk towards a joyous ending in your latter days! Do not look back at failure but look ahead to Jesus who is the author and finisher of your faith if you continue to abide in Him as the Scripture teaches. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are awaiting those who choose to pay the price to remain on that straight and narrow way leading to an overcoming life. God knows best and following His dictates in His Word will produce in a pilgrim’s life a lat- ter end of rejoicing! Read Luke chapter fifteen about returning home from the swine pit to a loving Father!  God bless you!

PLEASE  NOTE: Where  do  the  Pris- on Bible Packets come from? NOT just Brother Skinner but from faithful contribu- tors such as the following couple and many many others who sacrifice faithfully unno- ticed by humanity. These are the ones who supply your Bibles free of charge and build churches in Madagascar. “And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury. And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites. And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all: For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.” (Luke 21:1-4) What are you do- ing with your money; your life????

Dear Bro. Skinner,

Thank you for your letter on ….. (my

birthday, 84) about the $$$ left out of the

amount we gave. I thank God twice a day

for the honor of giving to missions IBA.

We love the Lord with all our heart. We

love holiness and try to live it with God’s

help.  Please  keep  me  in  your  prayers.

I am almost blind but God is so good to

  1. My husband is 86. We live in a small

1 bedroom apt 400 sq ft. Most of our in-

come goes to missions. We buy only used

clothes & God supplies all our needs. We

The rich man in hell requesting a mis- sionary to be sent to his brethren (Luke

16) he knew would be joining him is a solemn reminder for we who are saved. The rich man’s (amongst the dead) re- quest was denied but Jesus’ (amongst the living) plea for labourers (Luke 10) has driven many obedient labourers into His harvest field. Not just to the remote jungles in far countries but the jungles in our nation need evangelism as well. Not only in our prison system but lost souls like this rich man’s brethren who are living a hell bound live in free so- ciety. Won’t you be that witness from inside and outside prison walls?

don’t eat out & cook all our food. We have church at home (no holiness church to go to) J… taught Sunday School for 54 years. We use the Miracles & Missions Digest every night over & over. He reads to me & it is wonderful. Thank you for them. Thank you again for the honor to give to IBA & thank your workers also. Your letter was a blessing to us.

Love in Christ

I’ve been enjoying your magazine for over 40 years, and have a special apprecia- tion for what you do for the prison popula- tion. I ran a transition facility & know how truly valuable such materials are to these people. I hope this will help you out a little with this work. Thanks for all you do!

Dear Mr Skinner,

My name is D. D. I am presently incar-

cerated at ********. The other day I was

speaking  with  another  Christian  brother

and I was sharing about my desire to obtain

a study Bible. I have been praying some-

time now for one. He mentioned that if I

write you you might be able to send me one.

I am 43 years of age. For the first 40

years  I  lived  very  reckless,  not  caring

about myself or others too much. I have

always been a believer in my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ but I was never a fol- lower. These past 3 years I have been be- coming a follower (By God’s grace). My thirst for my heavenly Father’s knowledge and understanding is almost overwhelm- ing. Nothing else interest me, everything else  has  become  meaningless!  It  is  an awesome feeling, a prayer that has been answered by my Lord – Praise God! Mr Skinner I would like to deepen my study of God’s Holy Word. Could you please send me a study Bible? I will put it to good use, everyday all day! God is good! May God our Father and our Lord Jesus give you grace and peace. Respectfully. Thank you for your time. One more thing, my Christian brother gave me a Miracles

& Missions Digest (June/July 2016 Vol.

60, No. 4) God spoke to me while reading

  1. Thank you again and may God continue

to bless your ministry. Giving glory to His

name and adding to His kingdom has be-

come my heart’s desire! God bless you!!!

Dear Brother Skinner,

May the abundant grace & peace of our

Lord be richly extended to you today.

We write to encourage you because you

have greatly encouraged us. May this card

(handmade) & letter be a blessing. We are

sorry not to be able to enclose a donation,

but my husband is still unemployed. Thank

you for praying for him (As I wrote previ-

ously to ask for prayer) The Lord has been

helping us & showing forth His Faithful-

ness – so we are preserving to trust Him.

He has a plan – Hallelujah!

Your  article  “God’s  Reserves”  was  so

much of a blessing. We have experienced

so much of what you described and truly is

has been a lonely walk with Jesus-yet He is

worthy to suffer for! Yes, we have been la-

beled narrow-minded, unsocial, unloving,

trouble makers – but in glory, when we see

His face, we want to hear “well done good

and faithful servant” – We pray for you

also to endure to the end.

Yes, we are hidden & it is not easy to

find fellowship & such great compromise

abounding! But, we do often for grace to

keep counting the cost & never to sell out

on our Blessed Lord. We pray often for

you – those who labor with you at IBA & all those in the Madagascar churches – we stand with you all. Press onward – love Truth and keep counting the cost – Keep sending out Bibles to all those needy pris- on inmates – “And my people shall be sat- isfied with my goodness” (Jeremiah 31:14)

…. “for your work shall be rewarded, say- eth the Lord” (Jeremiah 31:16)

In His Love,

Dear Missionary organization;

Before I commence, I would like to apol-

ogize for any interruption from your daily

schedule. I am directing this informative

incarcerated here at *****. I would like to

receive these books for the simple purpose

to acquire knowledge and understand the

eternal truths of holiness and righteousness

that God demands us to practice and live

by, I’m willing to forsake my sins; my eyes

have been blinded with the cares of this

life and the deceitfulness of riches. Would

you kindly provide these materials for me?

I will greatly appreciate your prompt as-

sistance in this matter. Thank you for your

time  and  troubles.  Respectfully  yours;

Greetings to whoever it may concern by the time that this lil letter reaches your hand I pray and most of all hope that it finds you in the very best of both health and in good spirit as well. As for me I’m blessed just trying to get my life right with Christ but I don’t have a Bible to read to become more Christ like. I’m trying to get my life in or- der so when I do meet my Lord and Savior I’ll be ready to continue my walk with Je- sus Christ to lead me to the promise land. I

don’t want to waste anymore of your time by rambling on so I’ll end this letter with love, compassion and appreciation. Await- ing your response I remain. Thank you very much And God bless you.

Dear Brother Skinner,

My name is P. C. I am in seg here in

prison. We all back here made lines to pass

things under our doors. One of my fel-

low inmates shot me your magazine. I re-

ally like it because you all are preaching

hell fire and brimstone. A lot of churches

nowdays are not. I noticed in one of your

magazines a package you send to prison-

ers. I was hoping you could send me a

package and put me on your mailing list to

receive your magazine. Also can you send

me the largest text or print study bible with

the 160 pg concordance? I am a Christian

and your magazine has really convicted me

and I know I need to get back to the Word. I

hope to hear from you very soon so I can dig

in and eat up the wonderful word of God!

Thank you very much and God bless you!

P.S. Please pray for me, I see parole next

year and hope to get home and do well. I

know this package will be right on time.

Please also pray for my sister ***, she is

addicted to meth really bad and needs help.

Thank  you  once  again!  God  bless  you!

  1. P. C. in TX prison.

Dear Sir,

I am new to the Lord, through the ***pro-

gram here at ***. I’m in prison and found

that the Lord loves us all. I would love to

know more. I was informed that you can

help me with a new Bible. If you could it is

needed. And will be used.

Thank you so much!

Dear Brother Jack Skinner,

My dearest friend, B….., introduced me

to Miracles & Missions Digest with Broth-

er & Sister Daoud a few years ago. I am a

young widow and been through many of

life’s trails. We serve an all mighty Holy

God.  The  world  desperately  needs  our

Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ.  Thank you

for being obedient to our Heavenly Father

and the Holy Spirit.

Sincerely,

Sister D. M. in PA

Dear Mr. Skinner,

Miracles & Missions Digest continues to

encourage me when I read the testimonies

of men in prison. I too am in prison. Every

one of the testimonies from them were a

blessing. Their thoughtfulness and grate-

fulness for the Bible and materials you gen-

erously and faithfully provided was very

convicting to me because when I received

your package of Bible, Song Book, Bible

studies and pamphlets, I have not written

to tell you, Thank You! Please forgive me

and please accept my thanks. I pray that

the ministry that you lead will continue to

reach prisoners like me.

Yours in Christ,

  1. V. in TX prison

Hello,

Thank you so much for the prison pack-

age  you  sent  me  a  good  while  back.  I

apologize for not writing and thanking you

then. I’ve been in prison a long time. May-

be I can be more thankful in the future.

(smile) I read all the Miracles & Mission

Digest. Your ministry and history are so

fascinating. Please keep on sending them

to me and any others you may have laying

around. Thank you again for all you do for

us prisoners.

God bless you,

  1. W. in NC prison

Dear Jack Skinner,

I want to thank you for Miracles & Mis-

sions Digest. I am a re-born Christian since

  1. I had ordered a King James Bible

from your organization in the early 70’s.

I don’t remember how it came about that I

ordered from your organization at that time.

But I have been receiving the Digest ever

since. I am 87 years old now. So I’ve been

receiving them about 43 years and never

sent any donations. I have a daughter in

prison for life. Am still praying she will

come home. Also a grandson in jail serv-

ing 6 mo. Daughter is saved, grandson not.

I appreciate the issues I received and I pass

them on to others. Am sending a donation

this time, hope it makes up for pass years.

Thank you,

  1. W. in IL

Dear IBA,

God bless you! I would like to thank you

for the beautiful Bible you guys sent me. I

also want to thank you for all of the Bible tracts, booklets, and Miracles & Mission Digest. I really enjoyed reading them. I have passed them on to my fellow inmates. I just wanted you to know how grateful we are to have you and your ministry.

May God bless you all at IBA,

  1. Y. C. in TX prison

Dear Brethren,

Thanks to God, I am released from pris-

on after 13 years. I thank you brethren for

your prayers.

The reason I am writing is because I feel

very empty without my Miracles & Mis-

name and address to your mailing list.

Thank you again, God bless you all.

Dear Brother,

My name is G. W., an inmate in Texas.

Another inmate shared his copy of Mir-

acles & Missions Digest and let me read

his King James Bible. I was moved by the

message and what I read about Baptism of

the Holy Ghost. The inmate, Brother Larry,

gave me your address and said to request

a welcome packet which includes a Bible.

Please send me this packet. Thank you.

I can’t trust my thinking as it has only

brought pain and hardships for me and my

family. I know from my childhood that Je-

sus answered my mother’s prayers anytime

I was sick or hurt. I knew if she prayed I

would be alright. I am wanting that kind

of faith. She talked about her relationship

with the Lord and I want that too. Please pray for me.

  1. W. in TX prison

Greetings from Montana,

As I see our churches being apostatized I

appreciate your steadfastness and uphold-

ing our Saviour and the only way to salva-

tion. We are not being taught of separating

ourselves from the world and seeking Jesus

for our power only. My Jesus died for all if

they will choose but to come to church and

hear how good we are and “feel” is what

is emphasized! Nothing of the blood that

was shed at such a great price! Subjective

– how we feel! Objective – what Jesus did!

I pray for you.

Sincerely,

  1. F. in MT

Dear Miracles & Missions,

The more I read Miracles and Missions;

it’s like reading God’s word, the truth. If

you watch the people out in the world you

can see how they live. God’s word means

nothing, if it did they would change, it’s

very plain in the Bible to read. It teaches

you the truth. Brother Skinner is doing a

good work taking over from the Daouds.

He writes the truth or would of never been

with  International  Bible  Association  all

these years. It gets better, keeps your mind

fresh. I’m sending some money, use where

need to.

God bless Brother Skinner and everyone.

I’m near 89 years, I can’t see very good or

write. Got arthritis real bad. Please excuse

my messy letter.

Love to all. Thanks to everyone for doing

God’s good work.

From the Editor, Jack M. Skinner

I received a $40 cash contribution from

the individual listed above. She resides in

an assisted living facility in Indiana. I also

received today a $50 check from the Unit-

ed States Treasury Department which was

a contribution from a male federal prison-

er in Arizona. Another California inmate

wrote and stated she had notified her pris-

on to send tithes to this ministry as well.

I am honored to have all who contrib-

ute prayer, money, and witnessing being

part of Miracles & Missions; of whom the

world is not worthy! Thank you!!!

LORD, I’M COMING HOME

William J. Kirkpatrick (1838-1921)

I’ve wandered far away from God, Now I’m coming home;

The paths of sin too long I’ve trod, Lord, I’m coming home.

Coming home, coming home, Nevermore to roam;

Open wide Thine arms of love; Lord, I’m coming home.

I’ve wasted many precious years, Now I’m coming home;

I now repent with bitter tears, Lord, I’m coming home.

I’m tired of sin and straying, Lord, Now I’m coming home;

I’ll trust Thy love, believe Thy word; Lord, I’m coming home.

My soul is sick, my heart is sore, Now I’m coming home;

My strength renew, my hope restore: Lord, I’m coming home.

My only hope, my only plea, Now I’m coming home;

That Jesus died, and died for me; Lord, I’m coming home.

I need His cleansing blood, I know, Now I’m coming home;

O wash me whiter than the snow; Lord, I’m coming home.
