Mariage a sacred institution (written to a daughter)

I know it is very difficult to hear that I cannot have any part with your union with another woman.  Yet, as I know your father would agree, the bible speaks out loudly in many ways that homosexuality is an abomination.

There are many verses but I will share only two references at first.

#1 Leviticus 18:22

“Do not practice homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman. It is a detestable sin.”

Rom 1 26:27

That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved.

If I really love you, which you know that I do.  Shall I not be more concerned about your eternal soul than some temporary relationship?

I cannot be part of any sin that is so grievous to the Lord.  Sure it would be easier to just go along and not risk being hated or disowned by those so dear to my heart.   I cannot though as I love you too much and must stand for your eternal soul.  I know your dad, according to our intimate conversations about such things, would have done the same.  He counseled with many that were confronted with a choice to obey scripture or not.  The truth was always made known and held accountable.

So why is same sex union so wrong anyway?  Well to ask God to justify His commandments, which is His divine right, is a very arrogant thing to do.    However I will explain one reason why same sex marriage is an abomination.

Have you ever wondered why only humans get married?  Where did it come from?  After all, animals just do whatever they want and whenever they want.  Doves have only one love their entire life I hear while other birds have many lovers.   Yet none of these marry.    Interesting…

The first marriage was between Adam and Eve.  Gen 1 says “And God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our own likeness and then later in Gen 2 is says The Lord God (Adonai Elohim) said, “It is not good for man to be alone; I will make a fitting helper for him. So the Lord God (Adonai Elohim) cast a deep sleep upon the man, and while he slept, He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that spot. And the Lord God fashioned the rib that He has taken from man into a woman, and He brought her to the man.

So man was made in the image of God and woman was taken from Adam’s side (flesh).  They are not the same but different.  Adam in God’s image and woman came out of Adam.

So this was to be a holy union where Adam and Eve (two different types) were to become one.

This is known as a type or example of God for mankind.  Like communion is an example of partaking of Christ’s blood and body yet the elements are symbolic only.  So marriage speaks of God (image of Adam) and His people (flesh) that shall become one.  So God who is holy and perfect chooses man who is unholy and imperfect to become one making the whole to now be righteous through Christ!

The bible says in Roman’s 3:23 that all (flesh) have sinned and come short of the glory of God.    Yet in Rom 5:8 is says “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us”.

So if you want to see this all in one place read from Ephesians 5 25—32

25 For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her 26 to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word.[a] 27 He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. Instead, she will be holy and without fault. 28 In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man who loves his wife actually shows love for himself. 29 No one hates his own body but feeds and cares for it, just as Christ cares for the church. 30 And we are members of his body.

31 As the Scriptures say, “A man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.”[b] 32 This is a great mystery, but it is an illustration of the way Christ and the church are one.

So again, it is your eternal soul that I/we are most concerned about.  Your father who is not here would also plead with you.  Together we plead and  stand up for God’s truth as we always have.

I will give you one more verse that we will all be judged by.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10  Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

I hope you will receive this letter in the love in which it was sent.  For I hope to see you in heaven along with your father and siblings.
